Why this exists

Understanding AI shouldn’t depend on your budget, your job title or your first language. AI Atlas exists to make free, open AI education available to everyone — in English, German, French and Italian — built on a simple belief: whoever wants to understand this technology should be able to, with no paywall in the way.

Everything here serves that mission: a glossary that explains, a timeline that tells the story and a map that shows how it all connects.

What this is

AI Atlas is one place to get oriented in AI: a glossary of the field's terminology, a timeline of its history, an interactive map of the whole ecosystem, and a close look at AI in Switzerland. It is free to read, has no ads, no paywall, no tracking, and no account — just pages.

Who makes it

Every entry on this site was selected and written or reviewed by a person, not generated in bulk. If you spot an error, please say so — corrections by email are very welcome.

Editorial principles

• Hand-curated. Entries are added one by one, checked against public sources before they go in.
• Verifiable claims only. Nothing is invented. Where a number is not published, the site says so ("published scores to be entered") rather than guessing.
• Dated data. Data pages carry a visible "data state" date, and approximate figures are labelled as approximate.
• Corrections welcome. Found something wrong or outdated? Write to info@aiatlas.ch — ideally with a source — and it gets fixed.
• Free for teaching. Teachers, trainers and students are warmly invited to use anything on this site for teaching and classroom purposes — copy it, print it, project it, build lessons on it. All we ask is a visible attribution to «AI Atlas — aiatlas.ch». Beyond the classroom, the content remains © SKALM GmbH (WILDSPACE).
